SPECIAL EVENT IN LIFE-----6HRS REHEARSAL AND OFF TO A COMPETITION
Sometimes i wonder how we did it...
Oct 1:Heard of a competition in DonboscoCalled up Vijay(lead singer) and told him,"dude,we have a competition in donbosco..les
play metallica.."Vijay told,"ok all set when is the competition,is that next month??"i said,"day after tomm"Vijay was shocked and said,"man i am not game for this.."Convinced him after a big talk abt wat to play and how easy he can sing those songs...atlast all set..Next he told he will be calling gaurav(lead guit) and i told i will tell this to "cow"
the keyboardist(the perfectionist who can find mistakes in the talent of Joe satrinani
too...really miss u dude...).COW is always the enthu man of the band and even he was
taken aback by the idea of rehearsing for a day and getting on stage...but he was on for
the show...Srshti(rhythm)...instantly said," i am coming .."
So all set...but some instinct told me that we were missing someone...Sujith was not there at
that point...o god wat abt the bass???
Oct 2:
There comes the saviour of that event Siddharth(he is right now in IIM A)...i have met
him in unwind and we were getting along nicely as friends...I told him the thing and i
told that i need him to play bass..He asked,"So wat r we goin to play......"i said,"les
start off with metallica dude.."I dunno whether he was literally bothered by this
statement as he stared at me for quite sometime..r u serious???6 hrs and u wanna play
metallica.....was his response..he din show up that he was shocked..he was kool and asked
me in a low tone..ok les meet now and discuss..We went to the god's own place named
DEMELLOS(who is giving rehearsal space @ 300rs/3 hrs???)...asusual cow booked the place
and we went there...called up vijay and told him to bring summer and hotel cal for sure
and then "someday " or wonderwalls...but the surprise is that everybody came to a consensus that we r goin to play summer and
hotel cal before coming to demellos...we have booked the room for 6 hrs...here comes the start...i said,"les start off the song and finish it at once, watsoever
mistakes we do..mistakes can be corrected after the song......"we started off hotel cal..but
unfortunately we din even cross the first bar...Srishti was playing "Papa kehte hai.."i
dunno y he played it..but i was sure that this will not mix with cal..then came our thala cow who mugs up the notes of each instrument and finds out mistake if
any and even teaches how to play ...(the bug stops there...he doesn know to play those
grooves too..:) and so he will not pull the crumb or sticks from ur hand and play that
and show it to u... )He started off teaching chords...e sharp, minor that this...took one hour to figure out
chords for them...and in the mean while i was practising my loops ..ok all set...les start it was the voice..jus gave 4 counts with my sticks..there started the BEAutiful music from gaurav(he has to
strum and sing this song...so he has played a huge part in this chapter of my
life)...then after 2 bars joined siddharth(cow was really enthu that he came near siddhu
and terrorized him to start the music)there came the bass...o wat a god given instru it
is...and the song above all is really deadly...i will have to start with 2 counts after
this bar..cow was already nearing me(his maneuvers will distract rather than
encourage)..alas... placed the starting 2 beats perfectly..there goes the song..
played the song to the end and we know certainly that we have done a gr8 job by
completing the song but it was faster than wat we thought,,,we had planned 3 hrs for
summer and 3 hrs for hotel cal..but its jus 1:30 hrs and we have finished(i mean jus
finished )hotel cal..
we had a big satisfaction as though we have done a show in front of LA audience and as
though we got a big centimental applause after the song...we went to the "nair kada" which is below demellos and it was raining that day...so we
took the umbrella and then went there...man wat a tea...really godly at that point..after
sweating out 1:30 hrs...went back to the hall..got one mentos and had it in my mouth and atleast we have one song
to back us up on stage was my feeling at that point..les start off with summer...1 2 3 4
and there goes the song..it wasnt that tough for us to get into groove after this...vijay
missed out the initial punch needed in the song but he caught us up and adjusted
well..."those were the best days of my life"..and there goes the crash from me....and we
r all set in half an hours time...so its remaining 3 hrs...since it is a small room we
were sweating like hell...
went to nair kada had a cup of tea..and again mentos..entered the room...nonstop play
started...we played two songs continuously...

OCT 3:
Morning:Ln and bharatan came to my house...we started off...train to nugambakkam...that day
unfortunately the train had some problem and it stopped in kodambakkam... then we went to
the kodambakkam downtown(over scene..:))caught an auto went to the donbosco auditorium..
we were simply roaming here and there to find out any hot chiks were present and then
atlast my band members started coming one by one...
can u perform first team on stage???was the question from the organizer...
we were looking at everyones eyes as though we were some scape goat..
atlast we ended up second on the stage...
we finished it with ease and really fast...honestly our performance was above
average...and that too this came out as a product of 6 hrs...
Siddhu gave the final punch by grabbing the mike and saying,"...do u know one thing this
was a 6 hrs effort..."everybody clapped(for the sake of it..)and we thought like a
kollywood movie it will be an applause for indicating the judge to give us the first
prize..
The judges were Shalini and rehana(arr's sister)..
Atlast the results came..We got.....We got the fourth place.....o man wat a feeling..but suddenly i realised that there were only
5 teams and out of that one team had already walked over....but i din come out of this
feeling bcos i know that we have pulled out a gr8 thing out of the blue to perform there
in the first place.... and also gave a close competition to the third position atleast..a gr8
team work...pulling out 2 songs in less than 6 hrs is not that easy, atleast for us
...this will linger in my mind always...hope this does the same for the other guys
too...
